Lease an adult change room for your venue
Shopping centres, stadiums, arenas, theatres, museums, transport hubs and visitor attractions can add a full-size adult change room without a building project.
An Essential Access Pod arrives on a tilt-tray truck, sits on a level pad beside your entrance, car park or concourse, and is designed for Changing Places accreditation. Lease it for 12 months or more, with servicing and one relocation included, and buy it at the end if it has earned its place.

Why venues add an adult change room
A standard accessible toilet does not work for a person who needs a hoist and a change table, or for the carer who travels with them. Families plan their outings around the facilities that exist, and a venue without one is a venue they do not visit. The National Construction Code now requires an accessible adult change facility in certain new or substantially refurbished public buildings, including large shopping centres, sports venues, museums, theatres and airports; your building certifier can tell you whether your project is one of them. For an existing building, a pod is the fastest way to provide one, and it can move when the site changes.
Why lease rather than build
- No construction, no shutdown of an existing amenities block, no capital project. A lease is an operating cost.
- Servicing of the hoist, change table, door, emergency call system and battery backup is included.
- One relocation per 12 months of the term is included, so the pod can move from a forecourt to a car park during a redevelopment, or between precincts between seasons.
- A bond of one month’s payment, returned at the end of the term or credited if you buy.
- An option to buy at the end of the term, at a price fixed in your lease agreement when you sign.
- Delivery: an estimated five months from the signed lease agreement and cleared deposit. The estimate is confirmed on your written quote and in your lease agreement.
Pricing is by itemised written quote. A design and build deposit is paid at signing and credited against your first months’ payments.
Which pod suits a venue
Adult Change Room. The full-size room with a ceiling hoist, a powered adult change table, an accessible toilet and a privacy screen. The usual choice for a shopping centre, a town centre or a transport hub.
Adult Change Room + Shower. The larger room with an accessible shower, for stadiums, aquatic centres and venues where people arrive from sport or the beach.
Accessible Adult Change Facility. For venues that must provide one under the National Construction Code and want a room laid out for that purpose.
Not sure which? Ask on the form and we will recommend one from your site and your visitors.

Where it goes and what the site needs
- A level pad or slab at ground level, so no ramp is needed; or a raised placement with a ramp and landing, priced on your quote.
- Tilt-tray access to the pad.
- A 240 V power outlet (single or twin 15 amp, or 32 amp) installed by your electrician.
- Potable water at a standard fitting.
- A gravity sewer connection point nearby. Sewer connection as standard. A licensed plumber arranged by Fortitude Essentials makes the connection, and it is a priced line on your quote. We give you a written connection specification before delivery and confirm the connection at commissioning.
- Landowner consent and any local government approval for a relocatable building, which we help you document.
You operate the facility: opening hours, access (an MLAK key scheme or your own arrangement), cleaning and consumables, and response to the emergency call. We keep the equipment working.
Engineered to a proprietary access standard that exceeds minimum regulatory requirements.
Accreditation
Each pod is designed for Changing Places accreditation. Accreditation is given by a Changing Places assessor to the installed facility, and depends on the approach path, the ramp and landing, signage and how the facility is run as well as the pod itself. Fortitude Essentials supplies the drawings, product information and certificates the assessor needs. We do not promise accreditation, and no pod is accredited until an assessor says so.
How a lease works, step by step
- Request a lease quote on this page. We reply within one business day.
- Site details and a short call: placement, power, sewer point, access, who will operate the facility.
- Itemised lease quote: monthly payment, design and build deposit, bond, delivery and commissioning, the sewer connection line (a licensed plumber arranged by Fortitude Essentials), the purchase option prices for the end of each 12-month period.
- Lease agreement signed, deposit paid. The build starts.
- Delivery and commissioning. Lead time is an estimated five months from the signed lease agreement and cleared deposit. The estimate is confirmed on your written quote and in your lease agreement. Bond and delivery are invoiced before the truck arrives.
- Monthly payments by bank transfer or PayTo, your deposit credited against the first months. Servicing visits on the schedule in your agreement.
- At the end of the term: renew, return, or buy at the fixed price.
Frequently asked questions
Can we lease for longer than 12 months?
Yes, 24 and 36 month terms are available, with one relocation included in each 12-month period.
Can we end the lease early?
Yes, on written notice after delivery, with an early termination amount capped in the agreement and reduced by anything we recover from placing the pod elsewhere. The lease agreement sets out the detail.
Who insures the pod?
Fortitude Essentials insures the pod itself and holds public and products liability cover for its work. You hold public liability cover for operating the facility, as you do for the rest of your venue.
Can we put our name or a sponsor’s name on it?
Yes. An acknowledgement panel on the exterior wrap is an option on your quote.
Do you supply hoist slings?
No. People who use a ceiling hoist bring their own sling, and signage in the pod says so. You can choose to run your own sling arrangement.
Is a pod right for an existing building that was never required to have one?
Often, yes. There is no obligation to wait for a refurbishment to provide one.
